I'm running for Rohnert Park City Council because I believe residents deserve leadership that listens, communicates openly, and puts the community first. When my husband and I moved to Rohnert Park, we were excited to become part of a growing, connected community. As I became more involved in neighborhood issues and local decisions, I saw firsthand how important it is for residents to have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their homes, neighborhoods, and quality of life. Attending City Council meetings, speaking up on community concerns, connecting with neighbors, and serving on my homeowners association board reinforced something I strongly believe: good government starts with listening, transparency, and accountability. Throughout my career in healthcare leadership, I've managed budgets, improved performance, solved complex problems, and brought people together to achieve results. I want to bring that same practical, results-oriented approach to local government. I'm not running because I believe I have all the answers. I'm running because I'm willing to ask tough questions, examine the facts, challenge the status quo when necessary, and work collaboratively to find better solutions. Rohnert Park is growing, and today's decisions will shape our community for years to come. I want to help ensure that growth is responsible, our finances are managed carefully, our neighborhoods remain safe and vibrant, and residents are engaged before important decisions are made. Above all, I'm running to be an independent, accessible voice for District 2. Someone who listens, follows through, and remembers who they represent.
Rohnert Park faces important financial challenges, and residents deserve confidence that their tax dollars are being managed responsibly. I'll prioritize long-term financial planning, transparent budgeting, responsible spending, and measurable results. That means examining expenses, identifying opportunities for efficiency, evaluating revenue projections, and ensuring residents understand the City's financial outlook before being asked to support additional taxes. We need sustainable solutions that protect essential services without placing unnecessary financial burdens on residents.
Residents should have a meaningful voice in decisions that affect their neighborhoods and quality of life. I'll work to make City government more accessible, responsive, and accountable through proactive communication, early community engagement, regular neighborhood conversations, and clear explanations of major decisions. Transparency means more than sharing information after decisions have been made. It means listening to residents, explaining options and trade-offs, and being willing to adjust course based on community input.
Rohnert Park is growing, and we need to ensure our infrastructure and public services keep pace. I support thoughtful housing development, including Downtown Rohnert Park and SOMO Village, that expands housing opportunities while protecting neighborhood quality of life. New development must account for traffic, roads, water and sewer capacity, public safety, parks, and transportation. I'll advocate for walkable, connected neighborhoods, appropriate neighborhood amenities, and early resident involvement in planning decisions.
Every resident deserves to feel safe, connected, and proud of where they live. I'll prioritize public safety, emergency preparedness, well-maintained streets, parks, and recreational facilities, as well as investments that improve everyday quality of life. I also want to strengthen community connections through neighborhood events, farmers' markets, family-friendly activities, and opportunities that bring residents together. Strong neighborhoods are the foundation of a strong city.
A thriving local economy creates jobs, supports City services, and makes Rohnert Park a more vibrant place to live. I'll work collaboratively with the Chamber of Commerce, local business owners, and community partners to better understand their needs, reduce unnecessary barriers, and attract businesses that serve our residents. I support revitalizing commercial areas, activating Downtown Rohnert Park, filling vacant storefronts, and encouraging sustainable economic development that strengthens our tax base and benefits the entire community.
Rising housing costs, utility rates, and everyday expenses are pressuring working families, seniors, and residents on fixed incomes. I'll advocate for responsible City policies that consider affordability, expand housing choices, and protect the services residents depend on. This includes carefully evaluating utility rate increases, encouraging housing options for different income levels and life stages, and ensuring City decisions balance long-term financial needs with their impact on household budgets.
